Pen Pal Writings Tips
Here are writing tips for POSTAL and EMAIL Pen Pals.
Write as you 'talk'... be yourself. Have fun!
  1. Mail for Email Local Postcards
This is always fun to send and receive.

  2. Send Special Photos
Photos of you, your family, friends, pets, home, car...make your correspondence more special.

  3. Use Unique Envelope and Stationery
Select one that reflects your personality. You can even write on the back for an added personal touch. Experiment with a variety of colors, sizes and shapes. Have fun!

  4. Colorful Inks or Fonts
You can have fun by writing in lots of different colored inks in the same letter.

  5. Drawings, Doodles, Graphics
Sketches, doodles, cartoons are also fun to include in your letter. Make them personal.

  6. Enclose or Email Clippings of Local Interest
Share interesting local stories from your newspaper with your pen friends.

  7. Send Something Very Unique from only You
A lock of your hair in a small envelope? Use your imagination and best judgment.

  8. Mail Tapes & CDs of Local Entertainers
You can trade these with each other. Share your local popular music.

  9. Enclose your Personal or Business Card
This or a personal card may also be included. Use your creativity. You can make your own card with a computer. Include lots of info.

  10. Type or Send Computer Letters
If you have an easily readable handwriting, stick with it. Or, a neatly typed or computer letter may be easier to read for your pen friends. Do your best. Improve with each letter.

  11. Mail (or send an audio) of Your Voice Message
A very exciting voice letter is your message on an audio tape or online. You can talk for an hour and include voices of your family, pets, your favorite music, etc. It will be impressive!

  12. Write when you want
Don't feel you have to write, unless you want to write. Also, don't expect your pen friends to reply to you as often or as promptly as you wish. A surprise is always fun. Be patient.

  13. Apply for More Pen Friends
Sometimes your first set of names may not be with people who appeal exactly to you. For more new pen friends, submit another IPF application for 14 more snail mail names. This will increase your chances for a new best friend.

  14. Select Countries You Never thought You would Select!
Be adventurous! Go ahead and select your least wanted countries and see what happens!

  15. Snail Mail is Usually Collected and Treasured
Writing on your own personal stationery...has more emotional impact than any email.
